From 1945-1950, according to the VPL's collection of
city directories, the building at 109 East Hastings Street that is better known as the former home of the Smilin' Buddha Cabaret, was known as the Latin Quarter Cabaret. The grainy image above is the only photographic evidence of the club that I was able to find. The sign is just visible above the sign that says "magazines." This comes from a much larger photo (below) of a PNE parade on the 100-block of East Hastings taken in 1949.
